Looking for help with NCLEX fee increase? You are in the right place. This guide gives nursing candidates across the USA and Canada clear, practical steps to prepare for the NCLEX with confidence.

The new fees apply to both the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN in the U.S. and to the NCLEX-RN in Canada. Other NCLEX fees, such as the international scheduling fee and the fee to change your regulatory body, exam type or language, are not changing.

It Depends on When You Register, Not When You Test

According to NCSBN, the fee you pay is based on the date you complete your registration with Pearson VUE, not your exam date. Candidates who register before February 1, 2027 pay the current fee, including those registering for a retake.

Should You Register Before February 2027?

  • Graduating in December 2026 or January 2027? Check whether your board or regulator allows you to register with Pearson VUE before your eligibility is finalized.
  • Repeat test taker? Registering for your retake before the deadline saves $150 USD or $210 CAD.
  • Don’t rush your readiness. Registering early is smart, but only test when your practice scores show you are ready.

Budgeting for the NCLEX in 2027

Remember to budget for more than just registration: board of nursing or regulator application fees, fingerprinting and background checks, Quick Results (U.S.), review courses and travel to your test centre.

Pass the First Time and Save

A retake now costs even more. Prepare with a structured NCLEX review.
