NCLEX Frequently Asked Questions

What is the NCLEX?

The NCLEX is the licensing exam nursing graduates must pass to practice as a registered nurse (NCLEX-RN) or practical/vocational nurse (NCLEX-PN) in the United States, and it is used by most Canadian provinces for RN licensure.

How many questions are on the NCLEX-RN?

The Next Generation NCLEX-RN uses computerized adaptive testing and gives between 85 and 150 questions, with up to 5 hours of testing time including breaks.

How much does the NCLEX cost?

The NCLEX fee is currently $200 USD in the United States and $360 CAD in Canada, rising to $350 USD and $570 CAD for registrations made on or after February 1, 2027.

Can Canadian nurses use this NCLEX review?

Yes. Our review is built for candidates in both the USA and Canada. Quebec uses its own RN exam, and some provinces use the REx-PN for practical nurses, so confirm requirements with your regulator.

How long should I study for the NCLEX?

Most first-time test takers study 6 to 12 weeks. Our free study plan breaks prep into daily content review, practice questions and full-length practice tests.

Do you help internationally educated nurses?

Yes. We support internationally educated nurses preparing for the NCLEX-RN to work in the United States or Canada.
